This means that positive current must flow in thru the conductor at the end of the bulb and they must ground via the sides. But they won't work for the three indicator lamps at the bottom of the speedometer. Those bulbs would work for the speedometer illumination bulbs and the high beam indicator lamp. LEDs in the speedo don’t really work because the light is directional whereas the standard bulbs the beam of light isn’t. LEDs can work on less than 6v, but these have integrated circuit chips ahead of the LED. Since they don't even mention voltage, we assume 12v. I'm tired of my dash lights being so dim that I can't read the gauges at night.Ĭheck how much voltage at the battery and the dash lights with the engine running above idle. I upgraded my bus from the normal 1.2w bulbs to the 2.3w bulbs, they are much brighter now and match the 2w bulbs of my VDO aftermarket gauges a lot better.Īlthough I did change the bulbs in my beetle when it was changed over to 12v. Guys in the Bay Window forum have been shopping here. Posted: Mon 9:45 pm Post subject: Re: LED Dash Lights Please check my '67 sedan project progress! I just ordered some LED's from Autometer for my tach, oil pressure, oil temp, and head temp gauges, but I can't find anything as a replacement for the stock VW bulbs. Does anybody sell replacement bulbs for 12V VW dash lighting - speedo, gas gauge - that are LED? I'm tired of my dash lights being so dim that I can't read the gauges at night. I just tried a couple searches here about this and turned up nothing. Posted: Mon 8:34 pm Post subject: LED Dash Lights Quick sort: Show newest posts on top | Show oldest posts on top
